Another monument perpetuating the memory of Soviet soldiers-liberators was demolished in Estonia. This time, the authorities of Rakvere Volost, Lääne-Viru County, dismantled the monument in the Ukhtna Manor Park. It was installed on a mass grave, journalist Alexei Stefanov reports on his telegram channel.

According to him, the graves, where 115 people are buried, have not yet been touched. But he fears it's only a matter of time.

The graves contain the remains of soldiers who died on August 7, 1941 during the defense of Viru-Kabala. The victims of the Nazi concentration camp Kaarli are also buried there.

The Estonian authorities intend to demolish all Soviet monuments in the country in 2023. New amendments to state laws may make it possible to dismantle even monuments included in the lists of protected cultural objects.

Earlier, the Permanent Mission of Russia to UNESCO stated that in the EU countries, including Estonia, a ''war on monuments'' is being waged in order to falsify history.

Russian diplomats called on UNESCO to ensure the protection of monuments, regardless of the political situation.
