Russian helicopters helped to extinguished fire in Algeria

Russian-made helicopters take part in forest fires extinguishing in Algeria, TASS reports. The army uses them in hard-to-reach places in northern provinces of Tizi-Uzu and Bedia.

The Algerian defense department noted that Mi-26 has great lifting capacity and high accuracy, which is necessary in such difficult case. Local military uses various techniques, including bulldozers to prevent the fire expansion.

During this week, more than 100 of fires are registered in Algeria. To combat the fire, authorities had to rent two specialized aircrafts in the European Union. The authorities of the neighboring Morocco expressed their willingness to send the aid as well.

According to the latest information, there are 65 people fire victims. Three-day mourning began in Algeria today.
