Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for the help that Russia provided to the country in the fight against forest fires, TASS reports. Erdogan is greatful for the Be-200 amphibious aircraft sent by Russia to help Turkey. The leaders discussed this issue during a telephone conversation on Wednesday, August, 2.

Ankara turned to the Russian authorities with a request for help. The pilots of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have already gained rich practical experience in extinguishing forest fires. They have worked abroad more than once and have been trained to work in dangerous conditions.

The Russian side also joined in extinguishing fires in Syria. Soldiers in helicopters put out fires in hard-to-reach places.
