Russian amphibious aircraft, which are extinguishing forest fires in Turkey, dropped more than 800 tons of water on forests in the Antalya region in a day, RIA Novosti reports.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations explained that two Be-200 aircraft were sent to Turkey. They have to work near Kemer, where the terrain is difficult and the heat is intense. Airplanes take water from the sea at high waves.

The main task of the aircraft is to protect hotels and other infrastructure of the Turkish coast from fires.

Ankara turned to the Russian authorities with a request for help. The pilots of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have already gained rich practical experience in extinguishing forest fires. They have worked abroad more than once and have been trained to work in dangerous conditions.

Be-200 helped to cope with the rampant fires in Greece, Serbia, Montenegro and other countries. The aircraft is equipped with water tanks designed for 12 tons. Thermal imagers are also installed on board, which help to find fires.
