International Theater Day celebrated in Russia online

International Theater Day is celebrated on Friday, March 27, according to the website of the Ministry of Culture. A lot of events are usually organized in honor of this event. The current situation has not allowed a holiday to be held according to the usual pattern. The spread of coronavirus and measures aimed at combating the infection forced to hold the event online.

The holiday will be celebrated with live online broadcasts of productions by leading theater groups and recordings of performances based on the works of Russian and foreign classics with the participation of famous actors.

Famous productions, premieres, interviews and much more are expected on the action website and on social networks. More than 2,500 recordings of performances and concerts are available during the event. Almost 50 broadcasts are planned on the Kultura.RF website.

At 11 o’clock, VKontakte will start the theater marathon. It will combine the performances of the best Russian creative groups. Among them are Sovremennik, Lenkom, Vakhtangovsky and Maly theaters, the Meyerhold Center. Odnoklassniki social network will support the action.

Kultura.RF website will launch Performances for every evening service. If the visitor cannot make a choice, a simple test will help give special recommendations based on the answers. There are more than a thousand productions in the catalog.

The Theater TV channel will give free access to online broadcasts in honor of the holiday.
