The UN General Assembly has adopted the draft resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism. The document was proposed by Russia, TASS reported. The Russian version of the document calling for the fight against the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other discriminatory practices was approved by 133 UN member states. Washington traditionally voted against the resolution; Kiev, as always, supported it. More than fifty countries have chosen to abstain.

The document invites countries to take concrete steps to avoid revising the outcome of WWII and denying crimes against humanity and war crimes committed during WWII. The resolution states that measures should be taken in educational, legislative and all other areas. It is also necessary to fulfill the international obligations undertaken in the field of human rights.

The authors of the document express deep concern about the heroization of the Nazis in some countries and strongly condemn them. In addition, the authors called for the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination.

The General Assembly expresses concern about the use of information technology and the internet to enhance the impact of the ideas of hate and recruit new members in different countries. At the same time, a reservation was made that the internet can be used to combat such groups.

Russia annually submits the document for UN consideration. The UN resolution has been adopted since 2005. According to Russian politician Konstantin Kosachev, the adoption of the resolution is great news for the entire civilized world. The senator expressed confidence that the activities of the UN could not depend on the "whims" of the American authorities.
