Reports on Alexander Griboedov, Vladimir Vysotsky and other famous Russians and British people, who contributed to the rapprochement of the peoples of the two countries, were made at the 7th International Scientific and Practical Conference called Russian Heritage in the Modern World. It was held at the Russian Embassy in London, the Russian Society Heritage in the United Kingdom wrote on its Facebook page.

The conference was attended by scientists, educators and diplomats from Russia, the UK, Poland and other countries. Greetings from representatives of the Russian embassy and the London authorities were read out at the opening ceremony

One of the central figures of the conference was the Russian poet, playwright and diplomat Alexander Griboedov. The British project dedicated to Griboedov was presented, the speakers covered all of his main roles.

A discussion dedicated to Vladimir Vysotsky contributed a lot to the conference. The poet’s son and museum director Nikita Vysotsky stated that the mass interest in his father’s work was declining, while the depth of research was increasing. The head of the Vysotsky Center at the University of Central Lancashire Olga Tabachnikova objected to the poet’s son, stressing that the British Russian-speaking youth was drawn to the poetry of Vladimir Vysotsky.

During the conference, a report was made on the map of Russian places in Great Britain, which was constantly updated with new items thanks to the help of Russian compatriots, Russian travelers and the British.

At the opening of the conference, members of the Russian Heritage Society handed Ambassador Andrey Kelin an old engraving from London Illustrated News, which published an article about the first Russian embassy in England at the end of the 19th century.
