An international seminar dedicated to Russian literature and its translations into foreign languages brought together writers, specialists in Russian literature and translators from Russia, China, Spain, Argentina, Turkey, Paraguay and other countries in Granada. The audience included students and teachers from universities and schools in Europe, South America, and the CIS.
The ''Days of Contemporary Russian Literature: Russian Fiction in the Aspect of Translation'' seminar was held over four days. The organizers were the University of Granada and the Moscow Institute of Translation, co-organizers were the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature, the F. Dostoevsky Argentine Society, Bulgarian University of World and National Economy, Yeditepe University from Istanbul.
Russia was represented by famous writers and literary researchers Pavel Basinsky, Evgeny Vodolazkin, Alexey Varlamov and others.
The seminar participants discussed the current state of Russian literature, the features of modern translation studies, and plans for translating works of Russian literature in different countries.
As part of the event, there was a presentation of the first translation into Spanish of Evgeniy Vodolazkin’s novel The Island’s Vindication, made by University of Granada professor Rafael Guzman Tirado. He wished his colleagues to ''keep their energy charged'' to continue working with the goal of ''connecting countries and peoples.''
