MFA Russia: Polish authorities ignore historical logic by rewriting history

Russia is perplexed because of the desire of Polish authorities to hold actions dedicated to 80th anniversary of the beginning of World War II. It is planned to be held in form of a meeting of modern "allies and partners" of Warsaw in European Union, NATO and Eastern Partnership.

Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Warsaw based this decision on some kind of “modern realities”, the website of MFA Russia informs. Thus, Poland completely ignored the historical logic, since it forgot that Red Army made the decisive contribution to the defeat of fascists and the liberation of Europe from brown plague.

There was no place for our country in this action, Russian diplomats say.

This can be called another strong proof of the distorted worldview of Polish authorities. Warsaw continues to falsify the history of World War II and the post-war era for the sake of political conjuncture.

Let it remain on the conscience of the current Polish leadership, Ministry of Foreign Affairs summed up.

As Russkiy Mir reported, the law allowing the demolition of monuments to Soviet soldiers came into force in fall of 2017. It concerns almost 250 memorials. The symbols of Red Army are also subject to law; therefore, they "must be removed from public space". The law will also affect military graves. Hammer and sickle and portraits of Joseph Stalin are removed from the graves of Soviet soldiers, but the symbol of Red Army (a five-pointed star) remains.
