Orthodox Church in Odessa is robbed and destroyed

In the early hours of June 28, unknown criminals robbed Odessa Church of the Holy Virgin’s Icon on Don. The cathedral is situated at the Western city cemetery, TASS reports.

Criminals robbed of the cathedral battering down sacrifice boxes for construction of the first hospice for incurably ill patients with cancer and destroyed the church building. Four unknown criminals got inside the temple. They broke windows, smashing the church property and cameras.

The number of attacks on temples exceeded 50, at this, nobody was found guilty for these crimes.

As the Russkiy Mir reported earlier, the temples of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchy are consistently attacked. In April, vandals attacked the Orthodox Cathedral in Chernigov Region. A church on the territory of the historical – memorial reserve in Shevchenko district of Kiev was set on fire. The criminals have not yet been found. Religious extremists committed a forcible takeover of the Orthodox temple in the Roven region. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchy had to defend its rights in the court.
