The Ukrainian Orthodox community supports a petition to Kiev’s administration for protection of the chapel next to Desyatinnaya church, RIA Novosti reports. Around 12000 people signed the petition addressed to the city mayor Vitali Klitschko in just three days.

Note that nationalists demand pulling down Ukrainian Orthodox Churches of Moscow Patriarchate. They claim that this church was illegally built on this land belonging to Kiev’s History Museum. Local activists went on a riot next to the chapel. Around three thousand believers came close to the chapel a week ago to prevent the Orthodox temple from blocking by a group of C14 radicals.

Earlier, the superior of the Desyatinnaya church Archimandrite Haron addressed the Ukrainian authorities, international organizations and even US President Donald Trump with a request to calm down the radicals.

Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate has explained that it pleads Vitali Klitschko to secure their ownership of the chapel. The petition reads that Ukrainian Orthodox Church has all necessary documents, besides, it conducted some site improvements.

Attempts to disgrace and destroy the chapel violate ownership rights and religious freedoms, according to Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate. They promised to continue collecting signatures before passing the petition.
