People who were left homeless and suffered from the actions of Hamas are currently living in the Sergievsky Compound in Jerusalem, RIA Novosti reports. According to Sergei Stepashin, who heads the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society (IOPS), no one divides the victims by their religion.

Sergei Stepashin spoke at the World Russian People's Council, which began in Moscow the day before, on November, 27.

He assured that at the moment the IOPS is also helping Russian compatriots who had to leave the Gaza Strip.

Russian diplomats and rescuers, as well as representatives of other departments, are doing everything possible to evacuate Russians from the danger zone as quickly as possible.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the evacuation of Russians from the conflict zone ''our sacred duty.'' According to him, the situation in the Gaza Strip ''has long since gone beyond critical.''
