The number of Russian citizens who have become victims of the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has increased, RIA Novosti reports. As of October, 19, 19 Russians have died. At least two more Russians are listed among Hamas hostages in the Gaza Strip.

Russian diplomats assured that they are in constant contact with the families and friends of Russians and are studying all the circumstances.

About 1,000 Russian citizens and members of their families remain trapped in the Gaza Strip, said the head of the Russian Permanent Mission to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya. He called on the Israeli authorities to open humanitarian corridors.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalated sharply on October, 7, when the Palestinian Hamas movement attacked Israeli territory. The Israeli Army (IDF) announced the launch of Operation Iron Swords against Hamas.
