St. Petersburg is the best well-reading city

The National Library of RussiaNorthern Capital of Russia recognized as the most literate region of our country, IA Interfax reports.

Reading contest award ceremony took place in Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library. It was conducted in the frames of Saint Petersburg Cultural Forum.

Almost all Russian regions strove to victory. Just few winners were chosen out of 84 regions. The Far West region took award for conducting “Literature days” in Kaliningrad Oblast. Tatarstan was granted for the School Cultural Diary project. Moscow was granted for the quantity of the copied library books.

Saint Petersburg was called the Flagman of Russian literature of 2018.

According to the city mayor Georgy Poltavchenko in the course of last two years Northern Capital has acquired so-called Mobile Library – the subway train with more than 700 thousand electronic books available. 26 more bookstores and Writer's Bookstore started working in the city.

It is worth mentioning that St. Petersburg is going to participate in UNESCO World Book Capital contest.
