International theater festival Baltic House named laureats

Flickr/Rosmarie VoegtliFamous Lithuanian director Eimuntas Nekrošius was awarded with Baltic House International theater festival award “For Dedication and Commitment”, TASS reports. The award ceremony held the day before in St. Petersburg has completed the festival.

The head of the festival Sergey Shub called Nekrošius the big friend of the Baltic House. One of the most renowned theatre directors took part in this festival during almost 30 years. This year Nekrošius celebrates 65th anniversary.

Life Imitation was the theme of this year’s festival. Chekhov's play Ivanov staged by Nekrosius with Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb has opened the festival.

Flemish theatre director Luk Perceval has received press prize n/a Leonid Popov in “Big format” nomination. Day-long staging named My Family Trilogy is made out of three plays – Love, Money, Hunger. It was performed by Hamburg theater Talia.

“Small format” nomination was granted to the Puppet Theater from Belarusian city Grodno. Oleg Zhiugzhda has staged The Seagull by Chekhov.

Audience Award went to Life Imitation played by Hungarian theater Proton (director Kornel K. Mundruczó) and ACWTM staged by A.S. Griboyedov State Academic Russian Drama Theatre (Tbilisi, Georgia).
