Russian language teacher and her students in the Swedish city Falun were awarded with “Small Nobel Prize”, Russian Community Center in Sweden reports. Teacher Irina Shestopalova mentioned that the Award ceremony was the final chord of the sequence of events related to Russian language studies that took place in the Community Center.
During the School Year the teacher with students discussed various pieces of Russian literature, in particular short story “Biter” (“Kusaka”) by Leonid Andreev. Students debated on the story, while Irina suggested each of them should compose a new ending. Nevertheless, the story was translated into Swedish with it’s original dark ending.
The award ceremony was the best happy end one can imagine reading dark Andreev’s stories. The prizes were received in three age groups, in two nominations: literature and drawing.
After the award handing ceremony, there was a concert that finished with famous “Katyusha” performed by all participants of the event.
