French readers will be able to read Yulian Semyonov's 5th novel about the Soviet spy Stirlitz-Isaev thanks to Monika Slodzian's translations. For her work, she was awarded a diploma of the Russian Historical Society at the Russian House of Science and Culture in Paris, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.
The professor at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations has been translating Russian authors since the 1970s. She has worked with the works of Fedor Abramov, Yuri Bondarev, Zakhar Prilepin.
Julian Semyonov became a special writer in her career. Thanks in large part to Monica Slodzian, French readers were able to get acquainted with fascinating works about the Soviet intelligence officer Stirlitz-Isaev.
The translator is convinced that Semyonov "foresaw everything that is happening now", noting that Bandera's Ukraine is depicted in the writer's book "The Third Map". Monika Slodzian knows the true history of Ukraine firsthand, she previously published the book entitled ''Ukraine since the Schwarzburd-Petlyura Trial''.
She noted that she would continue to translate the works of Yulian Semyonov. ''I support Russia with all my heart and convictions,'' she said as she received the award at the Russian House of Science and Culture in Paris.
