Russian scientists create a self-learning robot

Russian scientists have created a self-learning robot, as newspaper Izvestia informs. It has been already tested and the results were successful. The robot has been developed by the experts of Lebedev Institute of Precision Mechanics and Computer Engineering, the member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, with the assistance from JSC Intellect.

To resolve the task the developers had to create new neuron models with the same characteristics as the biological ones.

According to the scientists an artificial neuron monitors the incoming signals and can produce synapses following the predefined algorithm.

The robot control system is based on the principals developed by Alexander Zhdanov, PhD in Physics and Mathematics. He said that there is a moment when a neuron recognizes once the combination of signals is repeated again and again. After that the neuron makes a conclusion that it can not be occasionally, remembers this combination and begins to respond accordingly.

"From this very moment he begins to report outward on the recognition of this image," explained the scientist.

There is one more important feature of Zhdanov’s neuron-like model. It can generate verbal communication which always has been a prerogative of humans.
