European compatriots gathered in Belgrade to discuss identity preservation

16th regional conference of Russian compatriots residing in European countries took place in Belgrade, as reported by the Foundation of Supporting the Rights of Compatriots Abroad.

The event drew leaders of compatriot associations from over 20 countries, along with diplomats, politicians, journalists, and other experts, including representatives of the Serbian authorities. Russian Ambassador Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko extended a welcome message to everybody.

The central topic was  dedicated to historical memory, Russian language, and culture. The forum reviewed the year's achievements, the exchange of new ideas, and discussions on problem-solving. Rights protection for compatriots in contemporary conditions was a key point of conversation.

The conference participants layed wreaths and flowers to the Eternal Flame at the Belgrade Liberators Memorial.
