Vilnius plans to strip Russian ballerina Ilze Liepa of Lithuanian citizenship over her support for Russia, citing concerns about "discrediting the state," RIA Novosti reports.  Local media recently reported that the ballerina, who has not only Lithuanian but also Russian citizenship, supports the policy of the Russian President and approves of Russia's actions in Ukraine.

The Interior Ministry has called for an evaluation of her statements, and if deemed a threat to national security, recommends revoking her passport.

The world-famouse ballet dancer received Lithuanian citizenship in 2000 for her contribution to local ballet. This follows the recent revocation of Lithuanian citizenship from figure skater Margarita Drobyazko, who represented the country at the Olympics with her husband Povilas Vanagas.
