The "Andrey Rublev" movie by the famous director Andrei Tarkovsky will be shown at the Venice Film Festival, TASS reports. It has been included in the Venetian Classics special competition. It includes restored copies of the masterpieces of world cinema. The film was restored by the Andrei Tarkovsky International Institute with partners.

In total, 20 films have been submitted for the competition, including Sergei Paradzhanov's "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors". It is presented as a Ukrainian film, since in 1965 it was filmed at a Kyiv film studio in Ukrainian. This section, which is traditionally judged by a jury of film students, includes works by Francis Ford Coppola, William Friedkin, Terrence Malick, as well as films by directors from Italy, Iran, Japan and France.

Venetian Classics is one of the most interesting and popular sections of the legendary festival among the audience. In the course of the classical program, films that have entered the history of world cinema compete annually. The jury evaluates the quality of the restoration carried out in different countries and at different studios.
