Memorial ceremonies in honor of those who fell victim to the bloodiest war in history were held abroad. They were timed to coincide with the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, which is celebrated on June, 22, the day the Great Patriotic War began.

The day before, Russian diplomats brought flowers to the monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators, which is installed in Budapest, TASS reports. Russian Ambassador Yevgeny Stanislavov recalled that on this day everyone remembers the millions of victims, the tragedy that the Soviet Union experienced, the colossal victims. The descendants of the heroes pay tribute to their heroism and courage, admire their feat. We must not forget that Soviet soldiers not only liberated their homeland, but also brought freedom from Nazism to the peoples of European countries.

In the Belgian capital, diplomats laid wreaths at the graves of Soviet citizens who died during the fight against Nazism. Kirill Logvinov, Acting Head of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the European Union, assured that Moscow would never allow the results of the war to be rewritten, to forget about the heroism of those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of Europe's freedom. On the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow in Brussels, the audience was invited to watch the Nuremberg war drama. Its screening was preceded by a minute of silence.
