Immortal Regiment held in Belgrade, Yerevan, Athens, Istanbul

On May, 9, processions of the Immortal Regiment took place in many countries around the world, the Izvestia newspaper reports. In Belgrade, the participants of the campaign gathered near the Park of Liberators. Soviet soldiers and Yugoslav partisans are buried at this memorial. During the liberation of Yugoslavia, about 8,000 Soviet soldiers and officers died.

People brought with them images of their ancestors, Soviet, Serbian and Russian flags. Russian diplomats joined the participants along with Ambassador Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko.

In the capital of Armenia, the Immortal Regiment gathered several thousand people. Before the start of the procession, they prayed for those who died in the battles of the Great Patriotic War. Paintings in the colors of the Russian tricolor, the Armenian flag and the St. George ribbon were carried around the city.

The protesters lined up in the figure 1945, which was filmed from a drone, and 1945 balloons were released into the sky near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The organizers of the procession presented TV sets to all veterans of the Great Patriotic War living in Armenia. To date, there are 67 of them.

The Immortal Regiment passed through the streets of Paris, the march took place in the capital of Cuba, in China, in Cologne, Germany. The campaign was also held in Argentina, Spain, Austria.

On Victory Day, members of the Immortal Regiment gathered in Athens. Russian compatriots, immigrants from the former republics of the USSR, and local residents came to the monument to Soviet soldiers who died for the freedom and independence of Greece, which was erected in the Kallithea region.

Victory Day was celebrated in Istanbul, where they held the Immortal Regiment, a motor rally and a social media marathon. The celebrations were organized by the Public Diplomacy Association with the support of Russian diplomats.
