Berlin police intervened in the Immortal Regiment campaign in the German capital, RIA Novosti reports. Law enforcement officers stopped the participants of the campaign when they were heading to the monument in the Tiergarten. More than 1,000 people joined the procession. They gathered at the Brandenburg Gate and went to the memorial to the fallen Soviet soldiers.

Police cordons were set up on both sides of the road along which the Immortal Regiment moved. Police officers were also in front of the column. Through loudspeakers they reminded of the ban on the use of Russian flags and other symbols. The few people who took Victory symbols with them had to hide them under outerwear or put them in bags.

A queue formed at the entrance to the memorial, as a fence was installed there. People had to wait about an hour to be able to lay flowers.

During the whole existence of Immortal Regiment, it was the first time this year when participants of the campaign were not allowed to spend a minute of silence on the square in front of the memorial.

Wreaths and flowers were laid on May, 9 at the monument to the Liberator Soldier in Treptow Park in Berlin. Russian diplomats, representatives of the diplomatic corps of the CIS countries and some other states came there. Together with them, hundreds of residents of the German capital remembered the feat of the Soviet soldiers. There was a moment of silence at the foot of the monument.
