Russia continues to help Greece cope with forest fires, RIA Novosti reports. Two Il-76 planes landed on the night of August 11 at the airport of the Greek capital. The planes delivered technical service personnel and crews to Athens. Right on arrival, the staff started to resolve organizational issues. The aircrafts started to work in the early morning.

An-124 airlift has delivered a couple of Mi-8 helicopters, to be used in the fight against fire.

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the expansion of the Russian grouping in Greece in response to an urgent appeal from the Greek government.

Let us remember, the Russian Be-200 firefighting aircraft already has been in Greece for about a month. According to local media, the main credit for the fact that Athens has avoided the total disaster belongs to this particular plane.

The Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis in a conversation with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin, highly appreciated the contribution of Russia in extinguishing fires in Greece. He also discussed the possibility of the future help.
