Putin spoke about BRICS plans for year of Russia's chairmanship

One of the priorities within the framework of Russia's chairmanship in the BRICS will remain the issues of expanding interaction between the five countries in the trade and investment spheres, Russian President Vladimir Putin promised at the closing ceremony of the BRICS Business Forum, in Brazil. According to Putin, Moscow is going to invite international association partners to update the Economic Partnership Strategy, which was adopted four years ago.

The Russian leader suggested discussing what new goals to set for BRICS and what really ambitious tasks to focus on in joint activities. Vladimir Putin believes that it is necessary to apply the useful proposals put forward at a meeting of the Business Council.

Vladimir Putin recalled that the next BRICS summit would be held next summer. Russia, as a chairman country, organizes it in St. Petersburg. The head of state added that a large-scale program was already planned, it would include many events, many of which would be devoted to cooperation in the economic sphere.

The President of Russia called the BRICS Business Forum an important contribution to the common work of promoting mutual trade and investment, building ties between our economies. This is confirmed by the results of the current forum.
