Six pieces of military equipment from World War II that have been exhibited in the German Seelow Heights memorial museum for many years will be restored as part of We Don't Forget Our Own international project. It is implemented with the participation of the Volgograd branch of the Russian Military History Society and the Heritage Military History Museum, the City of Heroes reports.

According to the organizers, Volgograd volunteers have already carried out similar work at the memorial to Soviet soldiers near the German town of Torgau.

The tank, mortar, howitzer and other military equipment that participated in the fighting near the town of Seelow will be put in order in the memorial complex. The monument was erected in honor of those killed during the fierce battles in April 1945. According to historians, more than 30 thousand soldiers of the Red Army became victims of the fighting.

The participants of the project discussed the details of future work with the burgomaster of Seelow. The parties agreed to launch an audio guide in Russian. At the moment excursions can only be listened to in English, German and Polish.

Funds for restoration work were raised through donations from indifferent residents of Russia and other countries. When starting the works, representatives of the Volgograd organization have already outlined the next object for restoration - it will probably become a monument in Rottenburg.
