Large-scale tour of Bolshoi Ballet troupe starts in London on Monday, July 29, TASS reports. Russian actors will be entering the Covent Garden stage for three weeks. They open the Russian program of the Cross Year of Music of Great Britain and Russia.

The tour poster includes famous productions. The legends of Russian ballet will be presented to the British public. Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake will be shown eight times, Don Quixote by Minkus will be performed 4 times, Spartak by Khachaturian can be seen seven times, and The Limpid Stream by Shostakovich will be shown two times.

The theater recalled that Bolshoi Ballet Company has performed in London five times in the past two decades. The current London tour will be the sixth in a row held this century. It is eagerly awaited by local classical dance lovers and the actors themselves.

Each time, Bolshoi Theater has more and more new fans in Great Britain, and those who are already captivated by its art are discovering new faces and new names. About 300 people went on tour this time. Among them are not only those whose names are rattling around the world, such as Svetlana Zakharova, Olga Smirnova, Artem Ovcharenko, Denis Rodkin, but also those who are just beginning to ascend to the heights of world recognition.

As Russkiy Mir reported, the regional program of the cross Russian-British Year of Music started in Sochi in early April. A concert of the local symphony orchestra took place, where the pianist from Great Britain George Harliono performed as a soloist. The Year of Music of Great Britain and Russia was a continuation of the programs of previous years: the Year of Culture, the Year of Language and Literature, and the Year of Science and Education of the two countries.
