Gunnar Lindemann, member of Berlin's regional parliament from the Alternative for Germany party has urged to put Petro Poroshenko on trial for war crimes, the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper reports. According to him, the current president of Ukraine should face an international tribunal.
The German politician explained that it was necessary to collect direct evidence of the war crimes of the Ukrainian president and convene a tribunal after that.

The member of parliament recalled that legal services in the unrecognized republics of the Donbass have been collecting evidence for a long time. Lindemann assured that he had seen some of the documents and they were enough to hold a tribunal over the outgoing president and commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army.

The German politician personally visited Donetsk and Lugansk and made sure that the situation at the front was getting worse day by day. He saw documents showing that 90 percent of the shells flew to the Donbass from the Ukrainian territory and 15 thousand people were killed over the years of the conflict. These facts are confirmed by the OSCE and prove that Poroshenko did not want peace for Donbass.

If Poroshenko refuses to appear before the court, sanctions should be introduced against him and his associates, Lindemann believes.
The tribunal should be democratic and fair; the judges must be independent experts in international law from different countries, the politician stated.
