Ukrainian Citizens living in Russia and Russians in Ukraine can not be sure that their rights are respected. According to the Russian parliament member Leonid Kalashnikov, this will be the consequences of the break of the friendship treaty between Russia and Ukraine. He believes that Kiev worsened the relations between the two countries, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the head of the State Duma Committee on CIS, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, the Petro Poroshenko's actions are another explicit proof that he is not interested at all in respect of his country's citizens rights.

Moscow and Kiev inked the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership in 1997 for ten years. The agreement reinforces the strategic partnership of the two countries. It is renewed automatically if the parties do not object.

Today, the President of Ukraine said that he signed a directive on the termination of this document. The National Security and Defense Council prepared the decision.

The Russian politician reminded that the bilateral trade turnover is only growing - it increased by 20 percent. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian President does not stop it, the country still buys oil and gas.

At the same time, the deputy of the State Duma is convinced that the renewal of the contract is possible under another government.

Russian politicians are sure that in this way the Kiev government again works against itself. Member of the Federation Council Alexei Pushkov recalls that this document recognizes the territorial integrity and borders of Ukraine. If the treaty expires then Russia is automatically absolved from all obligations under it.
