Law on Donbass reintegration justifies force to restore territorial integrity of Ukraine, which cannot be construed as acceptable, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believes. He made this statement after the talks with his counterpart from Slovenia Karl Erjavec, TASS reports.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed this law the day before. The law comes into effect from the moment of its publishing.

Russian Foreign Affairs Minister has expressed hope that the Western countries, France and Germany, first of all, being participants of Normand contact group are conscious that Kiev’s actions are clearly cancelling Minsk agreements.

In his turn, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitri Peskov has also noted that this law might have negative impact on implementation of Minsk agreements. In particular, in his opinion, many experts are worried that this document might cause “hot heads” in Kiev to return to a force settlement of the conflict”. Peskov has underlined that this would “entail irreparable aftermath,” RIA Novosti informs.

Note that the Verkhovna Rada voted for the law about the so-called Donbass reintegration in January. To accept the law proposed by Petro Poroshenko, the Ukrainian Parliament members needed three days.

The law acknowledges Donbass as “occupied territories”, whereas Russia is called “an aggressor country”. Besides, the text fully ignores Minsk agreements. The law gives a right to the President using the army in peacetime.

As the Russkiy Mir Foundation reported earlier, Ukrainian parliament members did not support a proposition to cut off diplomatic ties with Russia and did not approve amendments of acknowledgement self-appointed People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk as “terrorist groupings”.
