The rally against anti-Russian sanctions took place in Milan. Its participants handed out oranges and leaflets to pedestrians. The leaflets said about the damage of sanctions for the agriculture of Italy. Mayor of Ceriano Laghetto Dante Cattaneo organized the event. Actions will continue in this city, which is located in Lombardy region and in Genoa, RIA Novosti reports.

Participants of the action in Milan placed a small tent near Russian Consulate General. According to Dante Cattaneo, the volunteers wanted to draw the attention of fellow citizens to the futility of anti-Russian sanctions, which are detrimental to the economy of Italy, as well as to manufacturers and exporters. During the rally, there were calls for the lifting of sanctions. Most of the passers-by took the action well -— they listened to volunteers, asked clarifying questions, and joined the discussion.

Mayor of Ceriano Laghetto reported that the damage to Italy has already exceeded 3 billion euros, and has led to a decrease in Italian exports and forced reduction of workers. Not only agricultural manufacturers, but also by manufacturers of furniture and mechanical equipment felt the negative consequences of sanctions regime.

The initiator of the action emphasized that the war of sanctions not only harms the economy, but also has a detrimental effect on the interethnic relations between Russia and Italy, which are linked by centuries-old friendship and cooperation in field of energy.
