Anti-Russian sanctions can be lifted at any time, French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said after the completion of negotiations with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, RIA Novosti reports. The meeting of politicians took place on June 24 in Le Havre, France.

According to Philip, sanctions are not something permanent. He also rejected the view that the dialogue with Moscow is insufficient. In addition, the Prime Minister added that enterprises in France do not change their commitment to the Russian market and Russia.

In turn, Head of Russian Government explained that in the international arena there is often a discrepancy in positions. Disputes are quite possible and even necessary. But breaking the contacts is the worst way to go. Dmitry Medvedev recalled that, in the opinion of many, the situation in the world today is worse than during the Cold War. “Because if there is no communication, there is no trust; if there is no trust, there is no opportunity to solve the problems,” he is sure.

Russian politician called the decision of the Western countries to limit the dialogue with Russia and cancel the relevant formats as a mistake. He assured that Moscow is always open to dialogue at various levels. And its restoration depends on Western colleagues, since it wasn’t us who blocked the contacts, so it’s not for us to restore them.

Philip called on Russia to use the chance to restore the Minsk agreements, which appeared after the election of a new president of Ukraine. In response, Medvedev said that the new Ukrainian leadership has not yet manifested itself. But the chances of being able to take steps in the right direction are not lost yet, Russian Prime Minister believes.
