The State Hermitage brought new exhibition to Amsterdam, RIA Novosti informs. Treasury! Masterpieces from the Hermitage exposition will start its work in the branch of the oldest Russian museum at the end of the week. It is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Hermitage Amsterdam exhibition center.

The exhibition includes more than three hundred works of art, such as paintings, sculptures and applied art. As the museum explained, it decided to abandon the principle of unity of time and place of art creation.

There is a unique opportunity for visitors to follow the development of the history of art. In addition, this exhibition is the evidence of the diversity and encyclopedic collection of the museum.

A large section of the exhibition is filled with the masterpieces of the Hermitage collection in the model of comparisons or reminiscences. Among them are Madonna and Child Under the Apple Tree by Lucas Cranach the Elder and Madonna with Child and Angel by Lorenzo Lotto, Saint George Killing the Dragon by Tintoretto and The Miracle of George and the Dragon Orthodox icon.

The statue of the King of Egypt Amenemhet the Third carved out of granite and the bust of Catherine II made of marble are presented at the exposition.

The exhibition included the famous Paleolithic Venus, a small female statuette. It is the oldest exhibit in the Hermitage collection. Much space is given to works by artists from Western Europe. All of this will be available until the end of summer.

As Russkiy Mir reported, the Hermitage branch in the Netherlands was established in 2009. It became the third largest museum in Amsterdam after the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum.
