Dutch Masters from the Hermitage exhibition starts in Amsterdam

Flickr/Bert KaufmannThe branch museum of the Hermitage of Saint Petersburg demonstrates more than 60 masterpieces of the The Dutch Golden Age, TASS reports. There are few Rembrandt's works among the paintings' collection.

In order not to challenge the local museums the Hermitage's msnsgement has promiced not to bring Dutch artists to Amsterdam when the Hermitage Amsterdam was opening 15 years ago, the Hermitage director Mikhail Piotrovsky has commentedi. But there were numerous persistent requests during the last two years to bring Dutch Masters 17th century collection.

It is worth mentioning that Hermitage collection of Dutch masters counts to more than 1500 works and considered to be the best in the world.

Mikhail Piotrovsky is certain that this exhibition is very important now, during the current complex international situation. It is worth reminding about political, social and cultural ties between our countries, and about the fact that culture doesn't have any political content.

The Hermitage Amsterdam director Cathelijne Broers has underlined that the temporary ‘home-coming’ of Duch Masters is absolutely unique event that will surely attract locals and city guests.
