OSCE

The OSCE should influence the Baltic republics and Ukraine to cease discrimination against national minorities, Sputnik news agency cites the representative of the Russian Association for International Cooperation Sergey Pinchuk. He said this at the meeting of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). The capital of Poland conducts the two-week-forum dedicated to human rights respect.

Sergei Pinchuk recalls that traditionally Russian people live in all these countries. According to him, the Russians remain an indigenous people in Ukraine, as well as in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

He stresses that Kiev is taking measures aimed at reducing the rights and freedoms of national minorities. This policy contradicts the international commitments undertaken by Kiev such as the Charter for Regional or Minority Languages. As a result, Russian and other minorities' languages are affected.

Rights of the Russian-speaking population in the Baltic republic are also violated. The situation in Tallinn and Riga is the most drastic.

The representative of the General Prosecutor's Office Irina Volkhonskaya earlier drew the attention to the position of the Russian-speaking population in these countries. According to her, a real aggression against the education in Russian is launched there.
