Kiev administration is going to wipe the name of the WWII Commander Marshal Zhukov off the map of the Ukrainian capital city. The city council has made a decision to rename the street after the Marshal of the Victory into the street of Kuban Ukraine, RIA Novosti informs.

According to the deputies, this step is to restore the historical memory about the state unit in Kuban called Kuban Ukraine.
The commission on the questions of culture, tourism and informational politics has already approved of this decision. Now it is to be accepted by the city council.

Note that, a memorial plate in honor of the Soviet Commander Marshal Georgy Zhukov, whose troops liberated Odessa from the Fascist invaders was removed in Odessa last year.

Earlier local nationalists induced the Odessa communal services to take away the memorial stone in honor of Marshal Georgy Zhukov. Before that, unknown criminals destroyed another commemorative sign set in Odessa in honor of the great Commander. Later city administration crossed out his name from the city toponymy. Marshal Zhukov Prospect was renamed into the Prospect of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes. After the Governor's change, the previous name was returned to the map of the heroic city of Odessa.
