Russian film director Alexey German Junior was awarded for his feature called Dovlatov at Berlin Film Festival, TASS reports.

The movie is dedicated to life and creative career of the well-known Russian writer. The plot is about 4 days in 1971, spent by Dovlatov in Saint Petersburg.

The director showed on the screens many traits of that historical period, such as Saigon café in Leningrad, considered a cult rock n' roll club, Lenfilm studio and legendary Bolshoi drama theatre in the period of its flourishing. The film shows scenes of talks between the main character and the young Joseph Brodsky, a Nobel Prize laureate in literature.

The film raises an eternal question for Russian and European cultures of the moral choice.

The main part was played by the Serbian actor Milan Maric. Besides, Danila Kozlovsky, Svetlana Khodchenkova and others are starring in the movie. Russian spectators will watch the movie in the first half of the next year.

Works by American, French, Italian, German, Polish, Spanish and British filmmakers were competing together with Dovlatov movie for The Golden Bear – the main prize of the film festival. The critics include the work by German Junior into the list of the main nominees for the victory.
