Dovlatov to compete at the Berlinale film festival

Solar ikon flickr.com/wikimedia.orgFilm dedicated to Russian-American writer Sergei Dovlatov to be presented at the renown Berlin Film Festival, RIA Novosti reports. Alexey German the Junior directed the movie. The plot unveils four days of writer's life in Saint Petersburg.

Director was looking for recreating the vibe of beginning of 1970s: cult underground Leningrad cafe Saigon, Lenfilm Film studio, Great Drama Theater in its glory years. Film has included scenes with the write'r friend, famous poet Joseph Brodsky, who later moved to US and received the Nobel Prize.

The movie addresses moral choice questions.

Milan Maric, the Serbian actor, plays the leading part; Danila Kozlovsky, Svetlana Khodchenkova and other recognized Russian actors participate.

The film is going on a big screen next year.

Along with Dovlatov many other movies from US, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Great Britain will compete to win at the one of the most prestigious film festivals. This year's jury is headed by famous German director Tom Tykwer.

It is worth mentioning that in Russian movie Profile produced by Timur Bekmambetov is included in Panorama program of Berlinale film festival.
