The agreement to resume flights between the two countries was signed in mid-December by the head of Russian Transport Ministry Maxim Sokolov and the Egyptian Minister for Civil Aviation Sherif Fakhty. The negotiations on resuming the charter flights to Hurgada and Sharm-el-Sheikh are scheduled on April, 1st.

It should be reminded that flights between Russia and Egypt were closed in 2015 after the terror attack on a plane, which belonged to Russian company. The terrorist managed to bring explosives on board of the plane in Sharm-el-Sheikh. As a result, over 200 passengers and 7 crew members died.

Russian specialists in air safety checked Egyptian airports many times.

As reported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation, Vladimir Putin announced soon re-opening of the flights between Egypt and Russian after his meeting with his colleague Abdel Fattakh as-Sisi. He said that Egypt had done a lot for ensuring safety of the passengers both on land and in the air.
