23.12.2017

sourozh.orgThe Divine Liturgy in honor of 55th anniversary of Sourozh Eparchy was served at Dormition Cathedral in London, according to the website of the Church parish. The Divine Liturgy was delivered by Archbishop of Simon Brussels and Belgium, Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh, Archbishop Nestor of Korsun, clergymen of the Sourozh Eparchy and senior religious leaders who arrived from Moscow. The congregation of the cathedral was also present at the Liturgy.

After the Liturgy was over, Prior of Patriarch’s Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Dubna Mikhail preached to the Orthodox believers. Archpriests and priests prayed to St. Nicholas, singing the praise to his icon.

Celebrations and gala concert were held in the Royal Geographic Society dedicated to the anniversary. Film about Sourozh Eparchy debuted at the end of the celebrations.

Sourozh Eparchy was established in 1962. It joins all Orthodox Parishes at the territory of UK and Ireland. Archbishop Antony was the first clergyman to head the Eparchy. Thanks to his efforts and talents of preacher and organizer, the church parish at first consisting mainly of Russian immigrants grew to include local believers who were baptised Christians.
