US State Department criticism of Russia’s foreign agents media law is double standard policy

29.11.2017

fapmc.ruReaction of US administration towards the Russian law about recognition of media as foreign agents is a bright example of double standards, according to Russian Foreign ministry, TASS informs.

Russian diplomats suppose that Washington has reserved a right for aggressive campaigns against Russian mass media. At the same time, USA expect benevolent atmosphere towards American mass media sources working in Russia.

The Embassy has commented that US authorities still do not understand that such double standards are not acceptable for Russia.

Russian diplomats are sure that the game initiated by American establishment still can be stopped, considering it brings no results at all. All prosecutions of Russian mass media in US should be terminated for this.

Moscow is not going to look for a pretext for its actions and Washington should not rationalize its standstill either. However, even now the situation can be corrected, the Embassy notes.

The State Department has claimed the day before that the law about “media foreign agents” is another threat to free mass media in Russia and called Russian authorities for the law cancellation.

It should be reminded that RT America was pushed to register as a foreign agent. Russian Ambassador called these actions unfriendly.
