Netflix produces high-budget series on Nicholas II

icholas II. Ilya Efimovich Repin, 1896//wikimedia.orgNetflix TV company management has shared plans on production of documentary mini-series about the last Russia’s Emperor Nicholas II, TASS reports. High-budget series titled The Last Czars will consist of six series about the monarch family, his relations with wife and children and fall of the Russian Imperial Romanov dynasty.

The authors state that the series will combine documentary historical narration with staged costume scenes. Netflix schedules release of the documentary series online next year. Nutopia producing company and the second TV channel of British broadcast corporation BBC will be involved in the series production.

The most popular foreign movie dedicated to the last Russian Emperor is British biographical film Nicholas and Alexandra directed by Franklin J. Shaffner released in 1971 which won two secondary Oscar awards.
