Scientists who carried out the historical and archival expertise agree that the remains found in Yekaterinburg belong to members of the Russian royal family. The study was carried out during the investigation into the murder of the family of the last Russian emperor, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the historian Yevgeny Pchelov, who took part in the research, the experts studied the documents of the investigation conducted by the White Guards. The testimonies left by those who killed the family and then disposed of the bodies were also carefully analyzed.

The historian assured that the examination was completed. It was carried out by specialists with vast experience in working with historical sources. They studied more than 2,000 evidences, they were collected from 15 Russian and foreign archives. These are not only written testimonies, but also photographs, and even audio recordings. New documents were discovered, and some were re-examined.

Thanks to a comprehensive analysis of the original documents, it was possible to restore a fairly complete picture of what happened in the days before the murder and immediately after it. The remains were identified by geneticists. The work was carried out simultaneously in several independent research centers.

The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) has already got acquainted with the results of the examinations. Metropolitan Tikhon, who holds the post of secretary of the Patriarchal Commission to study the results of the examination, stressed that the Church's recognition of their authenticity remains with the Bishops' Council. According to him, the Russian church is working together with scientists. It also conducted her own expertise.

The comprehensive analysis of the remains found in Ganina Yama after the death of the last Russian emperor and his family made it possible to put an end to the case. According to the conclusions of the experts who undertook the molecular genetic examination, seven of the eleven findings correspond to the royal family  - mother, father, son and four daughters. The experts have also established a DNA relationship with Alexander III. The body of the father of the last Russian monarch was exhumed for this in the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg. The examination confirmed the relationship "father - son" with one of the remains from near Yekaterinburg. For the accuracy of the study, the genotypes were also compared with the gene sets of the descendants of the Romanov family.
