From Russian Fairytales to Finnish Posters exhibition opens in Helsinki

Fazer/from artist's family archiveFrom Russian Fairytales to Finnish Posters, the exhibition of Aleksander Lindeberg, has started in the Crypt of Helsinki Cathedral Church, Yle portal reports. The event is timed with 100 years annversary of the artist. In the course of his life Lindeberg has created landscapes and portraits; he has also illustrated books and advertising posters.

Aleksander Lindeberg was born in Rostov-on-Don. Spectators will acknowledge what an important role Russian culture and Russian roots have played in the artist's life. Art critic Sisko Ylimartimo has marked at the exhibition's opening that Lindberg loved Russian art. His style was particulary influenced by the master of graphic arts Ivan Bilibin.

Lindeberg have deeply appreciated his roots. He has illustrated Russian fairy tales and Russian classical writers - Gogol, Tolstoy, Goncharov. In the post-war period Alexander was doing more and more advertising posters, becoming famous advertising artist in professional circles.
