Nominees for Russian State Science and Culture Awards announced

Names of Russian State Awards’ Winners 2016 became known to the world, IA Interfax informs. Traditionally the gala awarding ceremony will coincide with Russia Day celebrated on June 12. Russian President Vladimir Putin will hand out the awards personally.

Awards in the field of science and technologies were bestowed to Vladimir Bogdanov, Anatoly Nuryaev and Yury Baturin for developing exploration systems of oil and gas fields of the Western Siberia. Besides, cardiologists and academicians of Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Karaskov, Amiran Revishvili and the corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences Evgeny Pokushalov will get the awards for decreasing the death rate from heart beat disorder.

Well-known astrophysics Nikolay Shakura and Rashid Sunyaev will receive awards for their research of collapsed stars, so-called black holes. They were distinguished for their black hole accretion disk theory.
A composer, author of music for many Soviet movies Edward Artemyev, famous choreographer Yuri Grigorovich and Mikhail Piotrovsky, the head of the oldest Russian Museum – the State Hermitage Museum became winners in the field of culture.
It is worth reminding that the writer, WWII veteran Daniil Granin received the State Awards from hands of Russian President several days ago, for his humanitarian activities. Gravin initiated Mercy Society, which is a charity movement encompassing thousands of people now.
