Swimming competitions were held at first day of III World Games of Young Compatriots. The best results were demonstrated by sportsmen from Russia, USA, Moldova and Poland. Table tennis matches were arranged in Kazan simultaneously with swimming competitions, where young men and young women from Armenia and Georgia distinguished themselves. Tatarstan national team showed confident results, as per official website of the United Russia.

Kyrgystan and Tatarstan reached the best results in streetball competitions. Representatives of Uzbekistan and Russia won these competitions for young women.

Chess matched kicked off at the Games too. Renowned world chess champion Anatoly Karpov visited the competitions and was very pleased with a big number of participants. He had great pleasure of talking to young chess players.

Sixteen football matches were played at the group stage of football competitions during first day. At this, some of them could be compared to adult cup football competitions judging by the intensity of emotions. Score of 4:4 was fixed twice.

Countries participating in the Games made their presentations in the evening, where young people talked about their native lands and performed national songs.

The official opening of III World Games of Young Compatriots took place last Sunday. Totally, around six hundred young men and women arrived at the capital of Tatarstan to take part in the Games.
