The World Games of Young Compatriots started in Moscow, the telegram channel of the Rossotrudnichestvo office reported. The opening ceremony took place the day before, on June, 12. The tournament is held for the 7th time. About 200 athletes aged 12 to 14 are competing for victory.

The sports program includes competitions in five popular sports. Among them are basketball 3×3, mini-football, volleyball, chess and table tennis. For the first time, medals in eSports will be awarded at the tournament.

The tournament is a unique event: the Games give the children of compatriots the opportunity to communicate with their peers from other countries, find new friends, and enrich themselves culturally. They are also aimed at preserving the Russian language, Russian culture and history among the younger generation.

The Games are organized by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo, the All-Russian Federation of School Sports with the assistance of the Moscow Department of Sports.
