The first Russian-language school to open in Manhattan

pixabay.comWith the new academic year the school № 145 in the district of Columbia University starts a program where all teaching will be carried out in Russian and English.

The President Russian-the American Heritage center (RAKSI) Olga Zatsepina commented that half day children will learn General subjects such as Russian, half — English. Classes are completed with children mostly from half-Russian, half-English-speaking families.There are 24 kids enrolled in each class.

As for now, there are two Russian-language classes to be open in September, Kindergarden and the First. Then every year new class will be added, until the last year of study.

The afterschool will be full of activities: chess, music, drawing, choir attract many parents. Needless to mention, many American families are also interested in this school because of high promises of traditional Russian-style education.

There are about 1,5 million Russians in NYC state, and most of them live in the City of New York.
