Eight countries have become members of the Association of Russian Schools Abroad, the St. Petersburg TV channel reports. This list includes Turkey, Ethiopia, India, Bahrain and others. According to Sergey Tarasov, rector of the Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University, who is a member of the association's council, by the end of the year their number will double. The university became one of the founders of the organization.

The Association and its members will turn into platforms that will be centers of Russian culture for residents of foreign countries, Tarasov noted. They are already working in Uzbekistan, China, Vietnam and Laos. He also added that from year to year the number of foreigners wishing to study at the University is growing. Compared to last year's figures, the number of students from the CIS countries and China has doubled.
